Commercial dry ice blasting in Northwest Arkansas, cleaned in place

Dry ice blasting cleans machinery where it stands and recovers commercial space after flood and mold, with no abrasives, no water and no sand.

Chapter 01

Machinery cleaned where it stands

For an owner or facility manager, the number that matters is how long the equipment is down. Surfco says dry ice blasting is non-conductive and safe for use on electrical materials, which is why it can clean the inside of electrical machinery with metal surfaces, cables, switches and photoelectric sensors.

On heavy machinery the results are the same, in Surfco's words: parts that are hard to reach, and in many cases dangerous to reach, can be cleaned with ease. Because dry ice is non-abrasive and the pellets evaporate on impact, there are no scratches on metal surfaces and no residue or contaminant left on a machine that has to go back to work.

The seven kinds of machinery Surfco lists are set out below, exactly as the company gives them. If your equipment is not on the list, describe it through the contact page and ask whether dry ice blasting suits it.

Flood and mold recovery in commercial space

Surfco says its precision blasting machinery is a fit for commercial properties that have suffered floods and mold problems. The thermal shock kills organic growth, and the blasting removes precise layers of dirt that have built up on both hard and soft surfaces.

Surfco describes dry ice blasting as ideal for delicate materials like wood and tile, since it does not damage the surfaces it cleans. In a restaurant, an office or a tenant space in Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers or Bentonville, those are the finishes an owner least wants to replace. It also needs no water and no sand, so a space that has already been wet is not made wetter.

The same method is one Surfco frequently uses for mold remediation, fire damage restoration, asbestos abatement and lead paint abatement. A job that touches more than one of those can often be handled by one crew with one method.

Chapter 03

The waste stream, and what Surfco claims about it

Surfco describes the process as having almost no environmental impact: no wasted water and no wasted sand. The company also says the liquid CO2 used to make the dry ice pellets is typically collected as industry waste, so the carbon impact is zero, and that the only energy consumed is the small amount needed to run the machine. That is Surfco's own description of the process, not an independent measurement.
