Residential mold remediation in Fayetteville and Northwest Arkansas

Mold hides in walls, behind tile and down drains. Surfco finds all of it, removes it, and tracks down the moisture that fed it so it does not come back.

Chapter 01

Where mold hides in a Northwest Arkansas home

Mold and mildew grow wherever moisture sits, and they pick the places you cannot see: inside walls, behind tile and down drains. A home can look fine while a damp section of drywall feeds a colony a few inches from where you sleep. Surfco treats a mold call in Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers or Bentonville as a search first, because the patch you can see is rarely the whole job.

Mold also travels. It rides air currents from one room to the next, it eats at your belongings, and it can weaken the structure of the house itself. The early signs are ordinary ones: a musty smell, blistering paint, new cracks in the tile, crumbling plaster, or a stain on a ceiling that nobody can explain. Call when you first notice them, before the stain turns into a bigger project.

Breathing mold can bring allergy-like symptoms, itchy eyes, coughing, difficulty breathing, nose bleeds, headaches and memory problems, and it hits harder when someone in the home is immune compromised. If anyone in your house has symptoms they do not normally have, call Surfco and ask for mold testing on your home so that you are not guessing about what is in the air.

Inspection first, then containment and removal

Every job starts with a complete inspection of the affected area. Surfco combines time-tested remediation methods with the latest detection equipment, so the search covers the wall cavity and the tile backing, not only the room that smells. When the inspection is done you get a summary of what was found, recommendations to limit further damage, a detailed breakdown of the work, and a transparent quote.

Removal is done with the industry's leading products and tools, and the work area is contained so the job does not follow us through the rest of your house. Where it fits the surface, dry ice blasting is a non-abrasive option, and Surfco uses it for mold remediation. Read how it works on the residential dry ice blasting page.

Many homeowners try to remove mold themselves, and Surfco does not recommend it. Mold hides out of plain sight, and it is hard to get all of it if you do not know how to detect it. Once the mold is gone, Surfco can disinfect the furniture, clothing and textiles it touched, so the home is safe to live in again.

Chapter 03

Fixing the moisture that fed it

Mold only grows where something stayed wet, so removing it without finding the water is a short-term fix. Surfco identifies the source of the growth and builds a plan to keep it from coming back. If that source was a leak, a supply line or a storm, the drying work follows the same rules as any water loss, with readings taken until the structure is dry.

Timing matters on the insurance side. Water damage is more affordable to deal with because it is covered when it is not long-term, but once mold starts forming you may have to fight for coverage, if you can get it at all. Surfco will do its best to get your claim covered, and an early call gives you the strongest position.

After the growth is out and the moisture is solved, the repairs are the same crew's work. Surfco is a licensed contractor for residential and commercial building, so drywall, paint and the rest of the rebuild stay under one roof rather than handed to someone who was never on the job.

Signs of mold growth in your house

Mold can be hard to detect, and these are a few of the signs worth acting on. Seeing one is reason enough to have someone look behind the wall.
